POST #28 - PLANNING: CAST AND CHARACTERS

There are 2 main characters who appear throughout the entire music video, and another character who only appears at the start;
- ALAN HAMLIN - The main character. 
AGE - 19
GENDER - Male
INTERESTS - Memes, playing guitar, drinking Starbucks with friends
FAVOURITE MOVIES - Shrek, Mystery Men, Digimon The Movie
BACKSTORY - He's been on a bit of a downward spiral as of recent. He lost his girlfriend to a guy name Chad from a poor loss in a poker game. Curiously, he never bet her in the game; she bet herself after seeing how loaded Chad actually was. Alan had usually been good at poker, with all sorts of strategies and a dead-on poker face. But apparently, it wasn't good enough against Chad. So he's been awfully lonely. He's lost 90% of his savings to Chad, and Lisa won't even treat him as an equal anymore.
PERSONALITY - Cocky (but he's working on it), doesn't give up easily, sentimental
POTENTIAL CAST - Blair Liversidge, Eddie Pratt, Elliott Gillespie

- LISA SKYGUY - The main character's ex girlfriend.
AGE - 19
GENDER - Female
INTERESTS - Money, not memes, money again
FAVOURITE MOVIES - Anything except Shrek, Mystery Men and Digimon The Movie
BACKSTORY - She's currently with Chad, the new guy. Before getting with Chad, she got dragged to one of Alan's poker games, who didn't have enough money of her own to use as a buy in. She was fine with that, Lisa didn't want to play anyway. During the game, she noticed how much a new player was putting in as his bets; it was a lot. She started to like this guy a lot more, and Alan a lot less, as new guy put down more and more. Eventually, towards the end of the game, she put herself up as a bet; whoever wins, she'll go off with. Alan lost, and so Lisa went off with her new boyfriend; Chad.
PERSONALITY - Genuinely cares for everyone's feelings, easy to adapt,
POTENTIAL CAST - n/a

- CHAD - The new boyfriend of Lisa
AGE - 22
GENDER - Male
INTERESTS - Being a jock, American football, money
FAVOURITE MOVIES - Back to the Future (but only the bits where Biff beats up the McFlys), The Amazing Spider-Man (but only when Flash Thompson beats up the kids)
BACKSTORY - He's somehow come into the accumulation of a LOT of money. So he doesn't give it to charity, or fund some project for good... he gambles. And somehow gets MORE money. And a new girlfriend when he plays against Alan, seeing that his girlfriend bet herself along with Alan's poker chips.
PERSONALITY - Gruff, like the cliche jock from every teenage high school movie, major superiority complex
POTENTIAL VOICE CAST - Noah Carolan, Jake Sherry

POST #26 - PLANNING: PLOT AND SCRIPT

The plot has been finalised! Finally! So why don't we run through it, plotbeat by plotbeat? We start off seeing Alan sitting at a table outside a cafe. He's having a phone call, while letting his drink go cold. We can hear a female voice, Lisa, on the other end of the phone, who's trying to gently let Alan know it's over. On her end, Lisa's new boyfriend, Chad, grabs the phone. He shouts down to Alan that "the world is gonna roll him". Furious, Alan hangs up, and leaves the cafe. He walks into a musical instrument shop, looking at a selection of guitars, feeling sad. He remembers how he played guitar for Lisa. He leaves the shop without buying anything, and starts walking down the street. He stops for a second, seeing a poster. It reads "MUSICAL TALENT WANTED!", and then a phone number. POST #32 - SOUND

In terms of diegetic sound, the only piece of it will be in the opening scene, before the song starts. When Alan is on the phone, I want to record the real audio from the actor pretending to have a phone call. The other end of the phone call won't be diegetic though, it'll be edited through Audacity and by recording my two other actors separately.  Non-diegetic sound is going to be quite heavy. Ignoring the song itself over the entire music video, I also want to use some audio I captured at a concert I've been to previously. During a lull where the artist had to tune her ukulele, she asked the audience to entertain themselves for "5 seconds". The crowd started singing All Star, to the sarcastic dismay of the artist. Her backing band joined in too, playing music to accompany the crowd's singing. Luckily, I recorded the entire thing, so I can use clips of audio of it for when I want a large crowd singing the song.
